Guangzhou's diverse landscape, shaped by its geography and commercial vitality, blends the vibrancy of both north and south, and the fusion of east and west. Historical architectural elements, such as material choices, colors, and layouts, have evolved into symbolic representations, creating a pathway for embracing contemporary Guangzhou. The architectural fusion of courtyard houses and Western-style buildings with arcade verandas serves as a bridge, integrating horizontal and vertical relationships within the space. Courtyards and corridors stack to form interior circulation lines, while a centrally located courtyard brightens and connects the two floors. The iconic red sandstone of Lingnan, deeply embedded in Guangzhou's cultural heritage, is reimagined through Middle Eastern red sandstone. This choice reflects the city's cross-regional nature, honoring its historical openness and diversity.
