Zhu Yujie's home
Pushing the door and entering the room, the reception room as the first functional module comes into view. The memory of the old house is like the luster of time, and it is preserved here through the original green iron doors and windows of the building. "We were quite excited when we saw this green door for the first time. It has the characteristics of old Shanghai, so we kept it." Beyond Zhu Yujie's expectations, Cui Shu also made it into a work that looks like a contemporary installation. This small design makes Zhu Yujie, an art curator, particularly happy. As an embellishment, the green elements in the form of "dots and lines" are also highly functional design highlights. In addition to the door and window frames, the simple green light strips in the air also have the "hidden function" of being an aerial track that can be used for exhibition and hanging paintings. In such an interesting space, inviting work partners to hold meetings or small exhibitions is also a very considerate hidden configuration for Zhu Yujie. Following the depth of the "rectangular box" and exploring inward, the designer used another tall and thin "vertical box" to expand the brightest and tallest position of the room, and created a bright bathroom here. The custom-made square box-shaped green stainless steel mini washbasin on the side is also a wonderful stroke of the designer. From here forward, you will reach the "central small square" as a space hub. The round skylight on the roof, where you can look up and see the tree, has become another finishing touch in the small space. I still remember that when the two of them first came to see this house, the location of the central small square was still a bare and dilapidated courtyard. Cui Shu, who discovered the maple poplar outside the courtyard, thought, "If you can see the spring, summer, autumn and winter of a tree at home in a city like Shanghai that is far away from nature, how romantic it would be", so he reserved a place for this maple poplar tree in the design. The round window frame that finally landed, together with the branches of the tree, will also cast mottled light and shadow on the wall on a sunny afternoon, bringing infinite reverie to people who are here.
