Ye Coffee is located in a forest in the countryside of Pujiang Town, Shanghai. The designers chose to use large transparent walls and white frames to form a simple “glass house”. During the construction process, the designer skillfully preserved the trees and incorporated them into the interior space to form part of the natural patio.
At one end of the interior, the designer replaced the glass facade with a solid wall, using only the small courtyard where the trees are located as a source of light, and cladding the interior walls with a fine corrugated metal panel to create a soft and varied light and shadow effect.
The interior furniture is made of wood, plywood, and other environmentally friendly materials, creating a visual sense of lightness, while the bamboo benches retain their local character, creating a natural atmosphere for the user and transferring the ultimate visual sensation to the physical touch.
Soon after the project was put into use, vines and vegetation climbed up the walls and tree trunks created a painting frame to look at for the users. Nature and the architectural interior have grown together into a unique landscape, just as the designers originally intended.
