本项目是基于村镇这个复杂环境所完成的实践，是对当下乡村生活的一个认知与解读。我们希望在村镇这个复杂环境中，通过极低的成本（70w的造价包含了建筑土建和内装的整体费用，不含家具）营造出符合当地需求的居住空间与建筑形态，并将传统住宅中的空间要素延续到这个项目里。通过提升居住品质吸引在城市工作的人更频繁的返乡，让老龄化的乡村逐步恢复活力。 设计中，我们将传统住宅的空间骨架——“天井院”重新植入新的建筑，层层退递的院落与平台呈现着向上生长的态势，寓意节节高升。把“天井院”移回到新房在当地似乎是不可理喻的，这意味着会减少房间的面积，而未来的拆迁又与建筑面积息息相关。但是院落的设置将获得阳光的房间增加了整整一倍，同时通过退递的方式，我们将院落在每层占用的空间减到最小，而这小小的“天井院”，却兼具了通风、采光、晾晒以及空调设备平台等多种功能。通过设计很好的平衡了使用者的利益与需求，或许是梯田之家得以落成的最重要原因。

By improving the quality of living, the aging rural areas will gradually regain vitality. The traditional structure-a “PATIO” is replanted into the space. The courtyard and platform grow upward, which have a good meaning of rising up. It seems unreasonable to put the patio back to the new house. That means a reduction in the area of the room, which closely related to the future demolition. But the patio has doubled the number of rooms can get sunlight. By returning back on every layer, we reduce the space occupied by the patio on each floor to the minimum. And this small "patio" simultaneously undertakes the multiple functions of ventilation, lighting, drying and storage. The good balance of the interests and needs of the users, perhaps is the most important reason for the completion of terraced house.
