六十三公寓坐落在一个典型的公共住房建筑中，该建筑则位于上海前法租界中心的泰安路上。公寓位于一楼，几乎所有墙体都为承重墙，整体采光条件不足。幸运的是，公寓南北朝向有几扇大窗户，建筑三面被绿树环绕。 客户是一个年轻的三口之家。他们想要的是一个舒适、现代、功能实用、预算合理的住宅。他们也经常做饭，喜欢在家里招待朋友。 在接到设计委托的时候，客户提出了一些比较明确的想法，即把这个63平方米的房子改造成两室两厅两卫，当然，满足三口之家的日常储物功能是必须的。 设计概念生发于场地条件：我们发现可以延伸南面两扇窗户的自然光线到室内，作为两条通透的南北轴线。我们在轴线上的每个空间都凿了窗洞，让整个空间都流动起来。窗户的层次感也营造出了空间无限延伸的感觉，在视觉上放大了狭窄的空间。第一条轴线连接了四个空间，分别是门厅、客用卫生间、主卫生间、主卧室; 第二条轴线连接了开放式厨房、餐厅、客厅和儿童卧室。当所有的窗户关闭时，每个空间都是独立的，以确保隐私。为了让空间更有节奏感，我们打造了一个夯实的绿色平台，平台向四周延伸，将空间区分开来，并衍变成厨房和餐厅的桌子、搁架，以及客厅的沙发，使空间连续又融合。 在材料方面，我们选择了公共广场常见的户外绿色瓷砖，价格非常合理且易于安装。卫生间则铺满晶莹剔透的马赛克，小巧而圆润，让空间明亮通透。结合温暖的橡木定制家具，整个空间有了平衡。
The building is located in Tai’an road, the heart of Shanghai’s Former French Concession. From the early 1980s to the mid 1990s, the government built a large number of public housing in the city center of Shanghai, and the Sixty Three Apartment is seated in a typical building of public housing. As it is on the first floor, almost all of the interior wall is load-bearing, and the overall light condition is insufficient. Fortunately, there are few windows on the south and north, and the building is surrounded by trees on three sides. The clients are a young family of three. They really want a cozy, modern house, with practical functionality and within a reasonable budget. They often cook and like to entertain friends at home. At the time of commission, the clients put forward some ideas to transform this 63-square-metre house into two comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a living room, a dining room and a kitchen to share activities together. Of course, meeting the daily life function demand of storage space for a family of three is a must. The design concept was grow from the site condition. We found that the two windows along the southern wall can be extended as two north-south window axes into the space, bringing natural light into the interior. Therefore, we took it as the breakthrough point and amplified this advantage. We chiselled window holes in each space on the axes to let the air flow in the whole space. The layering of windows also creates a feeling of infinite extension of space, visually enlarges the narrow space. The first window axis connects four spaces, which are foyer, guest bathroom, master bathroom, master bedroom; The second axis connects the open kitchen, dining area, living room and kid bedroom. When all the windows are closed, each space is independent to ensure the privacy. In order to give the space a sense of rhythm, we creat a solid green platform, which extends everywhere to distinguish the space, and grow into tables, shelves in kitchen & dining area, sofas in living room, so that the space is continuous and integrated. In the matter of materials, we choose the common outdoor green ceramic tiles for public square, the price is very reasonable and easy to install. Bathrooms are bespread with mosaics, small and mellow, make the space bright and transparent. Combined with warm oak custom furniture, the whole space is balanced.
