Two Boy's Home
This is a top-floor duplex, where the female homeowner grew up. Before the renovation, we could still see her room when she was a child and the high and low beds she had slept in. Now, after leaving for nearly ten years, with the birth of the second baby, they decided to move back to this old house. The male homeowner cherishes the parent-child relationship very much and hopes to spend a lot of time with his two sons here in the future. On the first floor, the designer planned an open and flowing space with flexible partitions, walls, and colonnades; while on the second floor, the designer used a very limited floor height and created an attic by partially lowering the floor. The attic serves as a secret space for the two boys. This added attic can be descended from the south to the sunny study on the second floor, and from the north is connected to the children's room on the second floor. The three functional blocks together form a three-dimensional flow space. The designer not only eliminated the visual barriers and emotional barriers in traditional rooms, but also created a two-dimensional and three-dimensional functional series and migratory lines, creating an open living place for the family that can stimulate the desire for exploration. The ultimate goal of the designer is to allow two boys to play, roll, hide and seek, learn and grow together in the room where their mother grew up, leaving beautiful and special childhood memories!
