ONE-CU Interior Design Office  ONE-CU
In the vestibule of ONE-CU's office, Su Xiaobai's 2014 work "Intactness 11" is placed against the backdrop of a deep black venue, where an overhead light and a lacquer surface reflect the antique texture of the painting's luster like a diamond. Beginning with the artist's paintings, painted with lacquer and arched panels, the space leads one into a viewing and empathy for the site. In China's busiest city, one climbs high to see and lives inside. Let's talk about our feelings and insights one year after moving into our new office. Looking around the four sides of the building, ONE-CU's office occupies a total area of about 1,650 square meters, which is a vertical collocation of two very long and narrow boxes. In addition to the office area for more than 100 people, nearly half of the area is planned as a shared and open public space. Unlike the conventional high-rise office building, where the white interface is harsh and modern, in this case, ONE-CU design team chose a variety of unconventional materials, such as kilogrammed raw stone, original artist's works, and large area of natural greenery, all of which are integrated into the dark background of the 18th floor high-rise building. The uniqueness of the colors and the tight separation of the superimposed material surfaces make the materials themselves become the backdrop and expression of the space, creating a rich and fascinating interior interface. In the outward view, the black color gradually fades away, receding into a peaceful and tangible sense of security, giving way to the protagonist of the human eyes to the wide and spacious sea view of Shenzhen Bay outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.
